Doge started to make an important US technology agency disappear

At least dozens of workers for the technology transformation services, housed within the US general services administration, were fired on Wednesday afternoon, sources told Wired.

The sudden cuts seem to have targeted subjects and short-term staff, including workers provided by the Presidential Innovation Fellowship program, who bring skilled technologists from the private sector to work in government for a few years at a time. About 50 of the 70 members of the US Digital Corps, an early career, two years of government society, were also terminated, lazy sources. Sources also told Wired that the management of TTS met with workers separately before the termination, giving them a last chance to be the postponed resignation presented in the e -mail “Fork in the Road” of late last month, take.

One staff member of the TTS called the meetings ‘compulsion for sure’.

It is unclear how many people are abandoned, but several sources tell Wired that the list can be over 70, if not more. Previously, there were about 650 TTS employees. Figured staff members are expected to receive a formal e -mail email later Wednesday night.

“From the beginning of this administration, GSA’s leadership is committed to supporting the administration’s initiatives to rights the federal workforce. GSA immediately took steps to fully implement all current executive orders and is committed to taking steps to carry out new executive orders, ”a GSA spokesman told Wired. ‘Like all agencies, GSA worked to meet OPM [Office of Personnel Management] Memo requirements regarding probationary periods. GSA is and remains committed to ensuring a reverent and dignified process for our agent staff during this transformation. “

The last day of employees is expected to be March 7, says sources.

Similar firing took place on Tuesday night at the Bureau of Consumer Finance. Dozens of staff members, mainly trial with less than two years of service, received email. Due to what appears to be a failed possession, fueled workers were addressed as [EmployeeFirstName][EmployeeLastName], [Job Title], [Division].

When Thomas Shedd, a former Tesla software engineer, joined TTS, he told staff to expect the cutting of workforce. “We should expect GSA to work with a significantly smaller budget and the staff will be significantly reduced in the future,” Shedd told TTS staff members at a meeting of all hands last week in the sound obtained by Wired .

GSA’s vision for the TTS, under new leadership, is an agency that works like a ‘boot software business’, Wired last week reported focusing on AI, automate different internal processes and centralized data from across the federal government.

GSA was one of the first agencies to take over Musk Associates as soon as President Donald Trump came to power. Nicole Hollander, who helped Musk in his Twitter acquisition, joined GSA’s upper levels, along with a number of other young technologists associated with Musk businesses.

The decrease in head count comes as Shedd and TTS Leadership hopes to launch ‘GSAI’, a custom generative AI -ChatBot, within the next few weeks. Wired recently reported that the purpose of this initiative is to increase productivity among staff and to analyze massive amounts of data. The agency also intends to sell more than 500 federal buildings to cut the total costs, while employees have demanded to return to personal office work.

Wednesday night, a federal judge allowed the Trump administration to continue with its plans to reduce the size of the federal workforce.

This is a developing story, check out updates.
